Father’s Day is fast approaching. For lots of us it’s easy to picture what to buy for our partners on behalf of the kids, as a thank you from the little ones. Sometimes it’s not so easy, especially if they have everything they want or if they’re hard to buy for. I know that there have been a few times I’ve been stuck on what to buy. This year though I’m totally prepared and have a few things picked out.
If you’re looking for inspiration for your loved one or something to buy for your own dad this Father’s Day, here’s my top picks of some unique, thoughtful gifts for the people that matter.
A long-lasting token of appreciation
I’d not heard of The Present Tree until recently, but I’m so glad I did. They deliver trees by post – how amazing is that? These little trees make lovely gifts for gardeners or those you care about, as they’re a lasting reminder of your relationship. You can also customise a card to be sent with it and add a personalised plaque too. We have the Irish Oak and it arrived beautifully packaged, and is currently sitting pretty in a pot next to the door waiting to be planted. If you’re looking for something a little quirky or the perfect gift for a gardener, this is the one for you.
Personalised toiletry collections
Special occasions like Father’s Day are a lovely time to put your mark on something and send a personalised gift. Combining wonderful, fresh scents with the option to personalise labels with greetings and photos, Button and Wilde have created a stylish way to gift hand and body washes and lotions to the ones you love. Their online create your product customiser is simple to use, allowing you to select different products, scents and customisation options. I’ve tried the Infused Citrus Spice fragrance which is lovely and fresh, and the Wild Citrus Rose body lotion is soft and hydrating.
A little bit of luxury
If the man or dad in your life loves a bit of luxury, Amara is the place to be. Amara stocks a collection of beautiful, design-led items for the home and lifestyle pieces like furniture, stationery and tech gifts. I love browsing and adding to my wishlist, and I’ve been so pleased with the quality of the Umbra Toto storage box we’ve received, which would make a lovely gift for dad’s office. Another beautiful gift is this keyring by Georg Jensen which is a stylish alternative to the usual place we keep our keys. It’s stainless steel and so shiny in person.
Cheers to dad
A bottle of dad’s favourite always goes down well. If your partner or dad’s a fan of beer then you must check out Best of British Beer – they source and sell a range of the finest qualtity beer from independent British producers. Best of British Beer stock a range of gift options, from beer crates to personalised magnums. They also sell cider too, or there’s the popular mixed cider and lager gift which we really recommend. There’s the option to join their beer club too – perfect for those who want to try a range of independent beers throughout the year. You can use the code NSFD2017 for free delivery too, until 12th June.
Fresh fragrance and shaving goodness
Billed as the ultimate grooming experience for real men, Bluebeards Revenge brings you high quality, paraben-free styling products, beard oils, body washes and more. Their EDT and shower gel gift set makes a fresh alternative to the high-street favourites and is a great way to introduce your other half or dad to the range.
Daddy bear’s cuppa
Is your little one’s dad a big tea or coffee drinker? If so this adorable coaster from Born Gifted would make a lovely keepsake gift from them to him on Father’s Day. You could even get them involved in creating some wrapping paper and presenting it to him – alongside a mug of his favourite drink, of course.
An itty bitty gifty
Another sweet gift from your little ones to their father, these Itty Bittys by Hallmark are a perfect way to show their love and appreciation. We have this lovely Star Wars duo* (does anyone’s dad not like Star Wars?!) but there’s a whole range including Peanuts and DC Comics, so there’s something for every dad. They’re collectible too, so why not start a tradition of gifting a new one on each special occasion?
The tech sidekick
Is your other half always losing their keys, wallet or phone? If so, Tile could be just the gift. The innovative tech, billed as the easiest way to find your things, is a bluetooth tracker and app combination that helps you track down your lost things. You can stick it to most things, making it easier to find your car in a huge car park or help you track down a misplaced bicycle. The Tile Mate can be attached to your keyring (like the one from Amara above!) or there’s the Tile Slim which sits pretty in your wallet or passport holder. I’ve added a Tile Mate to my keyring and I’m sure it’ll come in handy when I next lose them (which is inevitable).
A trip to the Royal Albert Hall
Want to treat your dad or partner to something a bit different this Father’s Day? Treat him (or them both!) to a night at The Royal Albert Hall, celebrating Elmer Bernstein’s contribution to film and listening to The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing some of Hollywood’s most recognisable theme songs. The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape and More! takes place on 18th June at the Royal Albert Hall, with tickets from £29.
