If you prefer a decluttered home and a minimal look like I do it can be easy for rooms to feel cold or lack personality. If your bedroom is feeling like it’s not quite you enough, here are three ways you can quickly and easily personalise your bedroom to make it feel like home.

1. Hang artwork or display photos
If you look around most people’s homes you’ll find mementos, photographs and images that give you a taste of their personality and style. When I look around mine, I know the walls still feel bare and like there’s a space just asking to be decorated in some way. If your home is the same, a beautiful canvas, print or gallery wall can really change the way the room feels.
For a super affordable way to decorate your walls, try designing your own ‘print’ in a free tool like Canva – you can then print at home or from a local print shop. There are also lots of beautiful prints available from makers on Etsy.
2. Change your bedding
Do you remember being a kid and being able to choose your duvet cover was a big deal? I think we lose some of that as we grow older, but your bedding can either become a point of interest in your bedroom or a calming neutral that allows your eyes to be drawn to colour elsewhere in the room. Whether you love a classic textured white duvet set or something striking, the set you choose can really transform your bedroom.
I believe that you don’t have to spend a lot to get high quality bedding – most of our sets have been bargains that we’ve found on sale or discounted. Use a website like Latest Deals to find deals on bedding and other items for your bedroom.
3. Display books and things you love
I love spaces which are free from clutter – but that doesn’t mean that everything has to go. There’s always a place for beautiful objects which make you smile, whether that’s a noticeboard filled with photos and festival tickets or your favourite candle. Another thing that’s great for bringing personality into your space is books. Not only are they practical, but styling your favourite books on a shelf, bookcase or your bedside table means they’re a constant reminder of who you are, what you love and where you’re going.
I hope you’ve found these tips on how to personalise your bedroom useful. If you’ve thought of any others, let me know in the comments!
