How to Get the Stained Glass Look at Home

Jul. 06, 2020 / Home & Interiors

If you admire the beauty of stained glass windows and want to know how to replicate their colourful designs in your own home; then read on for three inspiring ideas…

Doorstep designs

If you are looking for a real stained glass statement piece for your home, one of the best places to consider is your front door. This will not only add character to your home, but it will also help your home to stand out from the others in the area.

A beautiful stained glass display at the entrance of your home will create a warm welcome for your guests. You can either create a bespoke stained glass window for your front door or use a reclaimed window. With a bespoke design you have the freedom to create any style or pattern you desire. For example, you could include your door number or a family pet into the design.

Window designs

If you live in a period home, with original lattice style windows, this is a great way to add a stained glass effect to your home. You can either call in a professional to replace some of the clear panes of glass with coloured pieces, or DIY using some self-adhesive coloured cellophane. This will create a beautiful stained glass effect on the interior of your home when the light shines through.

Bathroom designs

Bathrooms are a popular area to add stained glass windows. This is because they let in the daylight, whilst maintaining privacy.

If you don’t want to replace your bathroom window, another great way to add a stained glass effect is by using some stained glass paints. Some of these craft paints are only temporary, so you can change the design when you get bored! Why not try and incorporate the colours of your bathroom tiles and accessories into your stained glass design? This will really help to tie the whole room together.
